Hanuman Garhi is one of the most prominent and sacred shrines in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Constructed in the shape of a massive 4-sided fort with circular bastions at each corner, this 10th-century temple sits on a high hillock overlooking the city. Tradition dictates that devotees must visit Hanuman Garhi to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman before proceeding to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.To reach the main sanctuary, visitors climb a flight of 76 grand stone steps. At the top, the sanctum sanctorum features a unique and touching idol depicting a young Lord Hanuman sitting on the lap of his mother, Mata Anjani.
